Under the high patronage and the presence of Mrs. Nadia Aoun First Lady of Lebanon, Beirut Governor Mr. Ziad Chebib, Minister of Tourism Mr. Avedis Guidanian, Minister of Environment Mr. Fadi Jreissati, Minister of Energy Mrs. Nada Boustany and the Director General of Ministry of Agriculture and ex-minister Vrej Sabounjian, The Garden Show & Spring Festival celebrated the opening of its 16th edition on Wednesday 5 June 2019 at Beirut Hippodrome. The show was inaugurated with an official flower-ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This year the garden show launched the voting for a creation of a rose called: Lebanon that will be revealed during the garden show 2020 at the occasion of the 100th birthday of the Republic of Lebanon. The public will vote during the four days events. The vote will be submitted to the French company DELBARD specialized in the creation of roses for them to create it.

“The Garden Show & Spring Festival highlights the importance of green spaces. The festival is a great opportunity for visitors to discover new ideas to uplift their balconies, terraces and gardens while enjoying the unique atmosphere of Beirut Hippodrome,” said Joumana Dammous, managing director of Hospitality Services sarl. Salame added, lot of workshops and sessions are taking place with local experts, also Rudy Rahme will be exhibiting 5 of his sculpture and Souk el Tayeb is celebrating his 15th anniversary at the Garden Show.

“Recognizing the importance of recycling and waste management in Lebanon, the garden show is also an opportunity to showcase environmental initiatives and send messages to protect the environment. At the eco pavilion, the visitors will have the opportunity to meet several companies and associations who are working towards a cleaner and greener environment.” said Myriam Shuman, co-organizer of the show.
Again this year, The Garden Show will be zero waste. In collaboration with Cedar Environmental, all waste generated from all activities of the show will be recycled.
And also the ministry of environment with the Lebanon Reforestation initiative gathered more than 10 Lebanese reserves under one pavilion.

In parallel, The Garden Show & Spring Festival is hosting for the sixth consecutive year Travel Lebanon, the first and only tourism event promoting domestic travel, activities, adventures and local traditions. More than 60 associations, tourism providers, ecotourism specialists, hotels, guesthouses and NGOs are participating in the event. Visitors will also be able to watch local artisans in action, taste the traditional flavors of Lebanon.

A number of exciting masterclasses and workshops will be taking place with gardening and lifestyle experts as well as a conference about sound and outdoor spaces.
Under the Dine for a Cause initiative and in collaboration with L’Academie Nationale de Cuisine, there will be special dinners at the festival to support charities. A number of well-known chefs will be preparing special menus to raise funds for social associations: Les Restaurants du Coeur, Caritas.
